The Doorstep Vigil Rule
THE RULE
After dropping off an able-bodied male friend in a safe place, leave once he reaches the door.
WHAT THIS MEANS
The ride ends with a head nod, not a driveway surveillance shift. His key has the rest of the assignment.
WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY
- There is a real safety threat
- The passenger is sick, injured, or unable to enter
- He asks you to wait for a specific practical reason
EXAMPLES
- VIOLATION: You idle at the curb until a healthy friend enters, locks up, and waves from the window.
- NO VIOLATION: You wait because his key is missing and the neighborhood is unsafe at night.
