The No Man Left Behind Rule
THE RULE
A group does not leave a friend stranded, dangerously impaired, or alone in an unsafe situation.
WHAT THIS MEANS
The night is not successfully over until every man has a safe ride or a secure place to stay. Head count beats heroic speeches.
WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY
- The friend is safely with a trusted person and confirms the plan
- Emergency services or venue staff have taken responsibility
- Leaving briefly is required to get transportation or immediate help
EXAMPLES
- VIOLATION: The group changes bars and forgets the friend whose phone and wallet are in the first booth.
- NO VIOLATION: Two men take a rideshare home with him while the others retrieve his car the next day.
