The Warning Requirement

THE RULE

Warn a friend before an avoidable embarrassment, bad purchase, or obvious mistake reaches the point of no return.

WHAT THIS MEANS

A real friend does not watch the bridge collapse for better storytelling. The warning must arrive while steering is still possible.

WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY

1. Giving the warning would reveal protected private information
2. The friend already knows and made an informed choice
3. Immediate intervention would create a larger safety risk

EXAMPLES

• VIOLATION: You notice the giant price tag hanging from his jacket and let him enter the wedding reception.
• NO VIOLATION: You quietly stop him before he buys the used truck with smoke coming from the hood.
