The Moving Assistance Rule

THE RULE

A close friend who asks for moving help owes an honest workload estimate plus food and cold drinks.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Friendship may provide free labor, but it does not include surprise pianos, mystery stairs, or an empty refrigerator.

WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY

1. Professional movers are doing the heavy work
2. An emergency move leaves no preparation time
3. The helper volunteers for a small task and refuses payment

EXAMPLES

• VIOLATION: You promise three boxes, then reveal a packed basement and a sleeper sofa.
• NO VIOLATION: You disclose the stairs, reserve the truck, label the boxes, and have pizza waiting.
