The Final Slice Rule
THE RULE
Before taking the last slice of shared pizza, offer it to the group and allow five honest seconds for objections.
WHAT THIS MEANS
The final slice is public property until the table declines it. The five-second pause separates hunger from piracy.
WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY
- You bought a personal pizza and never offered it for sharing
- The group already named you the last-slice recipient
- The slice is a topping combination everyone else rejected
EXAMPLES
- VIOLATION: You fold the last pepperoni slice and eat it while another man is reaching for the box.
- NO VIOLATION: You announce the slice, count to five, hear silence, and proceed with lawful chewing.
