The Collar-Popping Ban

THE RULE

A polo collar stays down unless weather, costume, uniform, or a specific practical need requires otherwise.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The collar was issued a resting position at the factory. Raising it for personality creates no additional personality.

WHEN IT DOES NOT APPLY

1. Sun or wind protection is genuinely needed
2. A uniform or costume requires it
3. The collar is temporarily raised while adjusting clothing

EXAMPLES

• VIOLATION: You pop both collars on layered polos before entering an ordinary sports bar.
• NO VIOLATION: You raise the collar on a windy boat, then lower it when the spray stops.
